School Improvement Advisory Committee
Committee Purpose
The School Improvement Advisory Committee, required by Iowa Code 280.12, is an on-going committee comprised of students, parents, teachers, administrators, and representatives from the local community. The committee will meet four times during the school year to address items required by code such as establishing short and long-range goals for the district. It will also work to inform our community about other important work going on in our district as it relates to school improvement.
Committee Members
- Director Allen Bierbaum
- Director Angie DeWaard
- In order to ensure representation required by code as well as voice from each building, each building principal will attend (Associate Principals may be asked to attend in lieu of principal if unavailable or by topic). Each building will identify one teacher and one parent to attend and secondary schools will identify two students per building to attend. The district will identify community members to invite. If you are interested, please contact Assoc. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hawkins by email at jeff.hawkins@ames.k12.ia.us or by phone at 515-268-6660.
