Parent University
The Ames Community School District is excited to announce the launch of its Parent University, a new initiative designed to foster stronger partnerships between parents, educators, and the community. As a goal to come out of the Strategic Plan, Parent University is a series of informational and educational events aimed at empowering parents with the tools and knowledge to support their student’s success in school and beyond.
Each month, we will host presenters on in-demand topics that were identified through focus groups with parents in our district. The program will cover a range of topics, including academic support strategies, mental health resources, ways to engage in meaningful school involvement, and more.
Superintendent Scott Grimes expressed the district’s enthusiasm about the new initiative, stating, “Parent University represents our commitment to building a strong, supportive community around our students. We believe that informed and engaged parents are crucial partners in achieving our district’s goals for student success.”
