About this event
We are happy to announce the free program “Math Circles of Ames”. The program is for students in grades 5 through 8. We will meet weekly, with the first session being on Monday February 3 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in Carver Hall 0298 at Iowa State University. Please encourage any student you think might be interested. The only requirement is curiosity and interest in mathematical puzzles that are outside of the curriculum.
The Math Circles are designed to emphasize hands-on activities and exploration of math topics by students. It will be supervised by faculty and graduate students from the Department of Mathematics. We will introduce a problem or a puzzle and guide students through working in groups and formulating their reasoning. The goal is to encourage students to develop their creative thinking and problem solving skills.
