About this event

During the month of January, join poet Caleb Rainey for three FREE poetry workshops celebrating the poetry of Langston Hughes. Jan 7, 14, & 21 from 2 to 4 PM at the Ames Public Library. In-person and Hybrid. These workshops build upon each other and at the end writers will be encouraged to submit their poem to the “Langston Hughes Project” poetry contest. Two winning poems will be chosen to be performed at the “Langston Hughes Project” concert at Stephens Auditorium on Feb 8th. The composer will write score for each poem chosen and Caleb Rainey will perform the poems.

This one-of-a-kind opportunity is offered by the Ames Writers Collective and funded in part by an Ames Commission on the Arts (COTA) Special Project Grant and a Discover Ames Community Grant. Don’t miss your chance to develop your poetry skills and showcase your talent!
