Long-Time Coach and Teacher To Lead Football Program

The Ames Community School District is thrilled to welcome Jesse Von Behren as the next head coach of Ames High School football, pending board approval. A dedicated educator and coach within the Ames CSD for over 20 years, Von Behren brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to student-athletes’ success.

Ames High School activities director Lyle Fedders stated, “I am excited to bring Jesse on as our head football coach. Jesse has been a staple in our community and athletic department for 20 years. He has been part of some of the most successful football seasons and is committed to our community and school district.”

Von Behren has been an integral part of the Ames High football program, serving in multiple coaching roles, including offensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, and most recently, 8th-grade head coach. His passion for developing young athletes extends beyond the field, as he teaches 7th and 8th-grade physical education and strength training at Ames Middle School, helping build the foundation for the future of Ames High athletics.

Von Behren had the following to say about being the next head coach, “It is an honor to be the Ames High football coach. I am very grateful for my previous years experience working with so many great coaches here in the Ames Community School District.”

In addition, Von Behren’s plan for Ames High football is to be a community of unity that competes, works hard, enjoys the process, and acquires life skills that will benefit players for life.

With his deep-rooted ties to the Ames community, leadership experience, and dedication to fostering a culture of hard work and excellence, we are excited for the future of Ames High football under Coach Von Behrens’ guidance. Please join us in welcoming him to this new role!
