Shan Seivert, New Director of Human Resources
The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Shan Seivert as the new Director of Human Resources. Seivert is currently the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director at the Iowa Department of Education (Department), a position she has held since 2020. In her current role, Seivert is responsible for the daily operations of the agency, but also for ensuring the agency implements consistent human resources policies, strategies and best practices. Her top priorities were recruiting and retaining high quality staff, as well as maintaining an engaging and inviting interview, hiring and onboarding process. In addition, Seivert was the Legislative/Policy Liaison with the Department from 2014-2020.
Before joining the Department, Seivert worked at Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), where she supervised employees conducting unemployment insurance fact finding interviews as well as speciality programs deputies. She then accepted the position as the statewide director for reemployment services, where she managed the daily operations and staff of two complex and vital reemployment programs and reconstructed an existing program for improved service delivery.
“I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Ames CSD team,” said Seivert. “The district has a strong reputation of providing a welcoming and engaging environment for educators, students and families. The opportunity to join such an amazing team is an honor.”
Seivert holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Upper Iowa University and a Master of Public Administration from Drake University. She holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional Certification and is a Certified Public Manager through the State of Iowa. As a District, we are excited to work with Seivert and look forward to her leadership within the Ames CSD. She begins work on December 1, 2023.
