Ames CSD Names Next AHS and AMS Principals
The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Dr. Paul Numedahl as the next high school principal and Boston Freilinger as the next middle school principal pending board approval.
Numedahl is currently serving as principal of Humboldt High School. His responsibilities included providing leadership and direction for academic and extracurricular programs, events, and activities. He also worked with recruiting, hiring, and supervising teaching and classified staff from various departments and operational divisions. Prior to this position, Numedahl served as assistant principal of Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, Colorado. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Iowa.
Freilinger is presently the associate principal of Hoover High School in Des Moines, where he created and led professional development on the school’s vision for instruction, restorative practices, and co-teaching. He also served as acting principal when the head principal was absent and was the master schedule lead. Prior to this position, Freilinger was vice principal of Meredith Middle School in Des Moines. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Viterbo University.
School Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. The Board and stakeholder interview teams conducted interviews with each of the principal finalists on Wednesday, January 25.
As a District, we are excited to work with Numedahl and Freilinger and look forward to their leadership within the Ames CSD. The School Board will vote to approve hires as part of their consent items at the Board Meeting on Monday, February 6. Numedahl and Freilinger would both officially begin their duties on July 1, 2023.
