Steven Hopper named as new Director of Technology
The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Steven Hopper as the new Director of Technology. Last school year, Hopper was a School Administration Manager with the Ankeny Community School District. Prior to that, he was a Curriculum Technology Coordinator in Ankeny and an Instructional Technology Consultant with Heartland AEA.
While in Ankeny, Hopper spearheaded efforts to improve technology integration by crafting a five-year technology plan. He served as the primary point of contact for the information literacy and library curriculum, PBIS/MTSS initiatives, and implemented custom solutions for collecting, analyzing, and reporting strategic plan outcome data. He has also actively worked to support technology integration including 1:1 device initiatives.
As an administrator, Hopper has a great understanding of how schools operate overall and how technology can be an integral part of teaching and learning. As an active school board member in a nearby community, Hopper understands the challenges that large school districts face and the importance of making system-level decisions.
Hopper obtained his Masters of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Iowa State University. Additionally, Hopper is a Google Certified Innovator and Level II Educator.
Hopper’s contract was approved on July 20, 2020, with a start date of July 27, 2020. As a District, we are excited to continue working with Mr. Hopper and look forward to his leadership within the Ames Community School.
